Caroline Chessher

Integrative Psychotherapist BACP (Accred) Executive Life Coach. Clinical Director

I am a senior BACP-accredited Psychotherapist, Trauma Therapist, Fusion Therapeutic Life Coach, Rewind Technique Therapist, and Level 4 EMDR and EFT Practitioner. I am also the co-clinical director of Stortford Therapy Space in Bishop’s Stortford.

My Approach

My work is grounded in trauma-informed integrative psychotherapy and psycho- traumatology - the study of psychological trauma, with a focus on its research, prevention and treatment. Alongside this, I incorporate Fusion Therapeutic Wellness Life Coaching, which supports emotional regulation, lifestyle balance and long-term wellbeing. Together, these approaches create a safe, structured and supportive environment in which we explore how past experiences—particularly unresolved or overwhelming events—continue to affect emotional and physical health. We identify unmet needs, process traumatic memories, and develop personalised strategies to restore balance, confidence and resilience.

Clients gain a practical “toolbox of mind-management skills” designed to regulate the nervous system, strengthen self-belief, and support long-term recovery. My focus is to help you understand your trauma, reduce its emotional impact, and build sustainable wellbeing.

I work with professionals, high-profile clients, and individuals living with trauma-related issues such as burnout, health anxiety, depression, panic attacks and PTSD. I have 8 years of experience working with corporate law companies, supporting employees and leaders with the unique pressures of high-demand environments. I also help clients navigate work-related stress, prevent long-term absence, and return to work following periods of emotional difficulty.

Alongside this, I have 10 years’ experience supporting cancer patients and their families through the psychological impact of diagnosis, treatment and loss.

Initial Session

Our first session involves a comprehensive history-taking process. This helps me understand the nature of your trauma, the patterns surrounding it, and what you need from therapy.

From there, I tailor a bespoke treatment plan that reflects your goals and your pace.

Fast Trauma Relief

As a qualified Rewind Technique Therapist, I offer this internationally recognised trauma- processing method for clients experiencing PTSD symptoms, flashbacks, intrusive thoughts and anxiety. The Rewind Technique is known for its effectiveness with single-event traumas and often requires only a small number of sessions. It can be used for a wide range of traumatic experiences, including abuse, bullying, accidents, or distressing events witnessed in roles such as the military, emergency services or healthcare.

Trauma can trap the brain in a loop where the event is re-experienced rather than stored as a manageable memory. The Rewind Technique helps shift the traumatic event into a memory you control—one you can choose to revisit or not—reducing emotional overwhelm and restoring a sense of safety.

I work with clients who want to:

  • Heal from past trauma

  • Understand and value themselves

  • Prevent or recover from burnout

  • Heal their nervous system

  • Rebuild meaning and purpose

  • Commit to personal growth

  • Live with greater freedom, confidence and happiness

I have full Public Liability and Professional Indemnity Insurance and regular supervision. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their Code of Ethics for good practice.
