IN-TRAINING PSYCHODYNAMIC COUNSELLOR - MBACP

I am a person with a steady presence and an open mind. I work with both adults and adolescents, offering a space where you don’t have to have everything worked out before you arrive.

Alongside my training, I work as a family time supervisor, supporting children and parents during emotionally challenging times. Being part of those conversations has shown me how important it is to feel listened to without judgement. I try to bring that same steadiness into my therapy work.

I previously worked in residential children’s homes with young people experiencing trauma, anxiety, anger, and loss. That experience taught me not to be afraid of strong emotions and to look beyond behaviour to what might be underneath. Most reactions make sense when you understand someone’s story.

I am interested in temperament and the different ways that people cope. Some are open with their feelings; others hold things in or rely only on themselves. These patterns usually develop for a reason and therapy can be a space to understand if those strategies are still working for you now.

My Therapy Practice

My approach is psychodynamic and relational. I am interested in how past experiences affect the present and influence our relationships. This helps me to understand our own conversations within our therapy in how you may respond or have heard what I have said. With adults, this might mean looking into anxiety, self-doubt, or relationship struggles. With children, it may involve understanding behaviour or play as communication. I connect easily with people; I think this is because I do not judge. I listen to support and encourage as well as being honest with my feedback that is appropriate to age. My role is to sit alongside you and think things through together and to understand what feels difficult or easy to achieve. We can either decide to make a plan or to simply do nothing at all other than know there is a plan if we need one.

My Training

I am completing a BACP accredited Postgraduate Diploma and Masters in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Essex. I previously studied Psychology with Counselling Studies at the University of Brighton.

I work in line with BACP ethical principles and aim to provide a safe, respectful, and collaborative space.
