Amy Moran

Psychodynamic Therapist (BACP)

I am a trainee psychodynamic counsellor working with adults. I am curious and attentive to what you are experiencing both in the present and how you relate to yourself and others.

Alongside my counselling training, I volunteer with Cruse Bereavement Support, working with people facing some of life’s most difficult experiences. I support people who are grieving from feelings of loss, anxiety, despair and a sense of being stuck. Grief is not always about a loss of a loved one, it can relate to change or new circumstances. This can bring in a variety of emotions to work through and some that feel more overwhelming such as life-ending/self- harming thoughts or a feeling of not wanting to be here anymore. I can support these feelings and thoughts in order that they become more manageable.

Before training as a counsellor, I spent thirty years working within international business, including founding my own consultancy and working alongside senior leaders across a wide range of industries and cultures. This experience has given me a deep appreciation of the pressures people can face around work, identity, responsibility, change and relationships. I bring a steadiness and a genuine interest in understanding each person’s unique story.

My Therapy Practice

My approach is psychodynamic, which means we may explore not only what is happening in your life now, but also how past experiences and relationships may be influencing the way you think, feel, and relate to others today. Together, we can begin to understand recurring patterns, to support in developing greater self-awareness and make sense of experiences that may feel confusing or difficult.

I offer a confidential and reflective space where you can explore whatever feels important to you, at your own pace and without judgement. We will work together to process thoughts and feelings, explore and to understand yourself more deeply will be a main focus. Insight does not always arrive quickly, but feeling genuinely heard is often where it begins.

I work with adults at all stages of life and have a particular interest in supporting people through periods of transition. This may include moving into adulthood, adjusting to university life, building a career, navigating relationship difficulties, experiencing loss, or managing significant personal and professional change.

How I work

At the heart of my work is the belief that meaningful change begins within a trusting therapeutic relationship. I aim to offer a thoughtful, supportive, and collaborative space.

Rather than offering advice or quick solutions, I seek to help you develop a clearer idea of what informs your decisions and to understand if these methods are still serving or if these patterns that shape your life may need more focus and change. We follow your lead, and we go only where it feels useful to go.

My Training

I am undertaking the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, specialising in the psychodynamic approach, at Hills Road Adult Education College, Cambridge.

I am a Student Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and work in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework.

I have also completed additional training in ethical online and telephone counselling practice and receive regular clinical supervision to support safe and ethical practice.
